The Albanian Prime Minister sees the establishment of barricades in the north of Kosovo as a setback in the dialogue process between Kosovo and Serbia. On Twitter, he condemned the attacks on EULEX and hailed as the right decision the step taken by his counterpart Kurti to postpone the voting in 4 municipalities in the north of Kosovo.

“Attacks on EULEX Kosovo are unequivocally reprehensible, just as any act of violence against the Kosovo Police is reprehensible. The reappearance of the barricades in the North of Kosovo contradicts every law and every spirit of dialogue and not only does not solve anything, but on the contrary complicates everything further. The postponement of the elections by the President of the Republic of Kosovo is a meaningful signal, to which the high authorities of Belgrade must respond with the same spirit and sense of responsibility, for not allowing further escalation of destabilizing acts”.

But Prime Minister Rama asks official Belgrade to intervene by exerting its influence, but also calls on the European Union to hurry up to bring the parties to the dialogue table.

“Belgrade must exert its influence on the Serbs of the North of Kosovo, without justifying their actions, whatever the reasons! The reasons discussed are not used as a weapon against the police and as a barricade against the legal order. The EU should urgently call the dialogue table”.

Reaction to the situation created after the attacks on EULEX and the Kosovo Police came from the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, who joins the calls of international partners for the immediate removal of the barricades by the Kosovo Serb groups.
