98 mooring stations for vessels on the coast
2023 will be the ‘Year of Vjosa’ for the Ministry of Tourism and Environment. In the presentation of priorities for this year, Minister Mirela Kumbaro announced that the 7 municipalities through which the Vjosa River passes will be equipped with wastewater treatment plants, so that they no longer flow into its bed.
“We cannot talk about Vjosa as the queen of the rivers of Europe while today 7 municipalities flow into it”.
In order to avoid tragedies like the one in Jal last year but also to guarantee a safe tourist season, the minister said that fixed anchoring stations have been determined in all the coastal areas.
“There will be no stations if permission has not been obtained”.
2023 has been described as a successful tourist year with 7.5 million foreign visitors and to further increase their interest, the promotion of the country in the international media remains a priority.
In the year we left behind, Albania attracted 1.9 million more tourists than in 2021.
