The relations between the two countries are evaluated
The Mayor of Zagreb was welcomed in Tirana by Mayor Erion Veliaj. During the conversation with his counterpart Veliaj, he appreciated the close relations between Albania and Croatia.
“We as peoples have a long-standing friendship, but above all, I believe that relations between cities are very important.”
For Veliaj, today Tirana is experiencing the same development as Zagreb once was.
“I can’t wait to learn from Zagreb, a city transformed over the years, preserving its identity, but also modernizing a lot. This is also the challenge we have in Tirana: how to preserve the identity and cope with the influx of population, while modernizing.”
The mayor of Zagreb was also optimistic about the strengthening of relations between the two countries.
“I look forward to strengthening the connection and relationship between Zagreb and Tirana. We have many historical ties and I think we also have many common challenges that we can face together. Especially when it comes to the “green transition”, public spaces, waste management, cultural exchange, youth policies, earthquake reconstruction.”
As a sign of gratitude, Veliaj presented his counterpart with the Clock Tower.
