‘There is NOBODY who can do what he can!’: Jamie Redknapp praises ‘irreplaceable’ Arsenal star

‘There is NOBODY who can do what he can!’: Jamie Redknapp heaps praise on ‘irreplaceable’ Arsenal star… as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink declares him the Premier League’s Player of the Season

Jamie Redknapp insists that Bukayo Saka is ‘irreplaceable’ and that the winger has been a ‘revelation’ for Asenal this season, ahead of their London derby against Fulham.

The 21-year-old has appeared in all of the Gunner’s Premier League games so far this season, returning an impressive 10 goals and nine assists to help lift Mikel Arteta‘s side to the top of the league standings.

Ahead of their trip to Craven Cottage later, Redknapp reflected on the England star’s season so far.

‘He’s irreplaceable,’ Redknapp said in reference to Saka. ‘There is nobody who can do what he can do. Brilliant match up today.

‘[Antonee] Robinson will want to run him the other way [in the game today]. I think this is a really good match up. Bukayo has been a revelation this season.’

His comments were echoed by and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, who called Saka his player of the season and believes Saka is only continuing to improve.

‘Bukayo for me is player of the season,’ the former Chelsea striker said. ‘He has done so well.

‘He’s been getting better and better and taking responsibility, popping up in important moments. Nothing fazes him, and for me, player of the season.’

Arsenal currently lead Fulham 2-0 with Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli both getting on the scoresheet inside the first 30 minutes to give the Gunners an early lead.

But the Gunners’ boss had to make some difficult selection decisions before the match, bringing Leandro Trossard into the starting XI despite him missing Thursday night’s Europa League match with an injury.

But speaking on Trossard’s influence in the side this season, Redknapp heaped praise on the Belgian, who has eight goals and five assists for the London club this season.

‘They invested so much in trying to get Mudryk,’ Redknapp said. ‘But right now the priority is to win the league.

‘I think Trossard is a great signing, he is ready made. He can play wide areas, up front. He gives you goals. They haven’t got that out and out scorer, he adds to the quality. Has ice in his veins in front of goal.’

Hasselbaink concurred: ‘He [Trossard] is very flexible, he’s very direct as well. He can play through the middle, he’s maturing and getting goals. Martinelli is getting bigger and bigger and stronger.’

Arteta’s side have shown many different sides to their game, from dominance to resilience throughout the season, coming from behind to claim some big wins, the most recent of those being their 3-2 comeback against Bournemouth last weekend.

Reflecting on the win, Redknapp said: ‘It’s not sustainable to keep winning games late on.

‘You have to make sure you win games convincingly. But to have that in their armoury is good, but they have to make sure that does not happen every game.’
