At the graduation ceremony of the elite athletes, the Prime Minister of the country, Edi Rama, thanked all the girls who managed to become Olympic champions and represented Albania in the international arena.

He said that these 7 sportsmen have not only raised the red and black flag, but also that of Kosovo and that together they have made every Albanian proud.

“Today they are here among us, not only as citizens of the Republic of Albania, but also as examples that shine in the eyes of all young men and women, examples not only of talent, will, success, but also examples of patriotism. Examples of a healthy, useful and oxygenating patriotism to the organism of this nation, not through hatred of others nor through verbal love for the country, but through the impressive force of their example.

The minister said these 7 colonels have raised the red and black flag high around the world. In fact, they raised the red and black flag and the yellow and blue flag of Kosovo and today they are all together. United under the red and black flag. An inspiring example of the union of forces, hearts, eyes and minds to make our homeland a source of non-negotiable pride for every Albanian and Albanian who gives birth to a baby in the lands of Albanians.

To make our homeland a source of pride that is not questioned by difficulties, by vicissitudes, by obstacles or by anything else. Because only the strength of this pride made the girls of a town in Kosovo, because it is a city for Kosovo but for the world it is a village that came out of the war, where there was only a great desire to follow the dream and where nothing gave the argument that Olympic champions would emerge from there. Not only that Olympic champions emerge, but that they emerge one after the other. Here they are today, from Majlinda to Nora, who will surely be followed by other girls and I hope other boys, because we have taken these girls to make our boys flexible. “

At the end of his speech, Rama also spoke about Luiza Gega, assuring her of full support from the government in her sports journey.

“Respect for Luiza Gega who is an extraordinary example of speed that knows no obstacles, and when Luiza Gega became Luiza Gega there was no state to push her to run faster. Today, Luiza Gega is the image of the state, of a state that will move forward much faster and that aims to make proud all the little Luizas that we don’t know yet. May God bless the Armed Forces of Albania and may the entire Albanian nation always be more proud of them.”

The 7 Albanian athletes Luiza Gega, Briken Calja, Erkand Qerimaj, Alban Beqiri, Majlinda Kelmendi, Distria Krasniqi, Nora Gjakova, declared Olympic, world and European champions, were honored today with the high military rank “Colonel”, becoming part of the Forces Albanian Armed Forces./broread
