For 61 municipalities, only 14 women entered the race
The race to win the local government, the political subjects have entrusted more to men. This is clearly shown by the list of candidates, which is dominated by men. In the race on May 14, for 61 municipalities, only 14 women entered the race.
The Socialist Party has remained faithful to the list of the 2019 elections, putting only 8 women in the race again, for the municipalities: Kurbin, Klos, Bulqizë, Dimal, Durrës, Përmet, Lushnjë and Roskovec.

The opposition has elected far fewer women. Although competing in 61 municipalities, the “Together We Win” coalition has entrusted the race to only three women.

The official PD has chosen the same number, although it competes in fewer municipalities.

It is also worth noting the fact that women candidates have mainly been entrusted with small municipalities, since there are none of them in the big municipalities, except in Tirana Lajla Përnaska, who is running under the PDIU logo.
