Rama after the speech at the KiE summit: Remove the stain from Albania and the KLA

At the end of today’s session of the Summit of the leaders of the Council of Europe (Read more), Prime Minister Edi Rama, answering journalists’ questions about the speech he gave at this summit, said that his position is related to the removal of a stain that the Assembly of the Council of Europe has put on Albania and the KLA, under strong influence of Russia in 2011.

– Mr. Prime Minister, you also addressed the issue of Kosovo in your speech. How will Albania’s position continue regarding what you claim about the innocence of Prime Minister Thaçi and all other persons?

Prime Minister Edi Rama: No, this is not a matter of innocence or guilt because that is a matter for the tribunal. The issue is to remove a stain that the Assembly of the Council of Europe has put on Albania and the Kosovo Liberation Movement, under the strong influence of Russia in 2011, and to make a new report in the light of the now proven fact that there was no never organ trafficking.

Rama is in Iceland where he is participating in the Council of Europe summit. This two-day summit has brought together European leaders with the aim of holding Russia accountable for the war in Ukraine. In his speech, Rama mentioned the accusations leveled against Hashim Thaçi and the Kosovo Liberation Army in the 2011 report, which, according to the head of the government, originated in this council.
