Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted after the tensions in the north of Kosovo. The head of the government says that he joins the appeal of internationals not to walk on this dangerous but also unnecessary path today. According to Rama, the center of attention of international friends is dialogue, normalization and mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia.

Edi Rama: Does what is happening in Kosovo help the process where all the great friends of Kosovo and the Albanians are engaged, for normalization and mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia?! Certainly not while our greatest friends themselves are deeply concerned! I join them in the appeal not to continue on this not only dangerous, but also completely unnecessary path today, when the democratic world has placed the dialogue, normalization, and mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia in the center of attention.

Meanwhile, the Ambassador of the United States of America in Kosovo, Jeffrey Hovenier, has condemned today’s police action in the north. Hovenier said the violent measures must stop immediately.

“The United States condemns the ongoing actions of the Kosovar authorities to enter municipal buildings in the north of Kosovo”, Hovenier said.

We remind you that today there were clashes between the Kosovo police and Serbian citizens in Leposavič, Zubin Potok and Zveçan. The reason was the entry into the municipal facilities of the 3 mayors who emerged from the April 23 elections.
