Karen Gillan lands the role she was ‘born to play’ – as Groundskeeper Willie’s girl in The Simpsons

She became a Hollywood star through her portrayal of Nebula, a blue skinned alien in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

But now Karen Gillan will turn a fetching shade of yellow for her dream role – in an episode of The Simpsons.

The Inverness-born actress plays Maisie, the Scottish love interest of show favourite Groundskeeper Willie in the animated series.

The episode, called Ae Bonny Romance, sees The Simpsons swap Springfield for Scotland after Willie is kidnapped and taken back to his homeland.

Ms Gillan will be joined in the show by Scots star David Tennant, a fellow Doctor Who veteran, who voices a character called Pa MacWheldon.
